This is one of a series of images that I created for Ferguson Christian Church. I'm the volunteer web developer and this year, I've been concentrating a bit more on graphics to help divide the page and direct the eye. I'm not a graphical designer, but I'm learning.
For an upcoming sermon series (called "It's Time to Check Your Pulse"), I wanted a graphic that would convey the idea of checking a pulse, and was stark enough to grab attention.
This graphic was created from a Creative Commons image found at saramax, although this link is no longer valid. I cropped it and added text. Thank you for using Creative Commons, but I wish the link had stayed available.

This is one of a series of images that I created for Ferguson Christian Church. I'm the volunteer web developer and this year, I've been concentrating a bit more on graphics to help divide the page and direct the eye. I'm not a graphical designer, but I'm learning.
For an upcoming sermon series (called "That's Gonna Leave a Mark!"), I wanted to use an action photo of someone getting an injury or crashing in a semi-comical way. As it turned out, I had taken a photo the previous summer of Josh (Joni's son) diving into the Edwards' pool with some wild abandon, resulting in this great shot. Thanks Josh!
I cropped it in Photoshop and added the text with an off color drop shadow.

This image I did for practice and to convey the power and relevancy of prayer. In usage, above the image, I added a text header that asks simply "Does God Answer Prayer?" The Bible answers this clearly:
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." -- Matthew 7:7 NIV
I admit that this image is originally taken from the collection of "Sample Pictures" that come with Windows Vista. As such, it is a derivative work based on another copyrighted work.

I edited it entirely in Paint.net. I cropped it and added a radiant blur effect centered on the sun in the background. I played with the color just a bit and then added the text of the Bible verse.

In usage, I placed this behind the invitation for any would-be Choir members to come to practice for the Easter Cantata -which was a success. In the code for this section I added a mid-sized heading and one small paragraph of black text. I will probably reuse this someday.
